Keeping Faith, the second book in “The Sunset Series” opens in 1876, an important time in the history of Colorado.

USG

For years, Colorado had been a “territory” of the United States. In July, 1876, residents voted overwhelmingly for statehood, and on August 1, President Ulysses Grant made the official proclamation.

In Keeping Faith, a gala celebration is planned.  Dressmaker Lucille McIntyre keeps busy making fancy gowns for the women to wear, but she isn’t going to attend the festivities herself.

Cowboy Tom Henderson invites her, but she turns him down…at first. Later, she has a sudden change of heart, finds Tom at the nearby saloon, and makes it quite clear that he will be taking her to the dance on Saturday night.

Here is Tom’s reaction. Enjoy!

EXCERPT FROM “KEEPING FAITH”

“What the hell was that all about?” Caleb Bryant stood beside Tom. Both men stared at the swinging saloon door where Lucille McIntyre had just exited. “Looks like you’ve got yourself a date for the dance.”

“Yeah, looks that way.” Tom scratched his head, trying to wrap his brain around what had just happened. Lucille had come in and had literally thrown herself at him.

What in hell was going on? Suddenly he wasn’t sure he wanted to take the pretty brunette to the statehood celebration. Sure, he’d been sniffing around her for years, a rowdy dog wanting a little pleasure, but she’d never given him the time of day before.

It had become a bit of a game, Tom realized. He chased, she ignored, and those were the rules. Now she’d made it clear she wanted to be caught, and he didn’t have a clue what he’d do with her.

Not that it mattered much. She wasn’t serious. Even if she went to the dance with him…well, he could never measure up to Miss Lucille McIntyre and her high-and-mighty expectations.

Or could he?

Keeping Faith is a story of possibilities, a story about overcoming hardship, making the best of bad situations, and becoming all we’re meant to be.

  1. Great excerpt! I can`t wait to read this one.

    • Thanks, Vicki! I hopped around this morning to a lot of the “Sneak Peek” blogs, but I didn’t see yours included this week. I’m hoping to read a few bits from your latest release. Maybe next week…?

  2. Enjoyed the excerpt! Now, he might get what he asked for, but isn’t sure what to do with it. LOL!

  3. Oooh, now I need to know what changed her mind. And also, how did she approach him. Good tease!

  4. Oh, how fun! That sounds like a really fun relationship to read about 🙂 Since it’s romance I know how they’ll end up, but I’d love to see how they get there!

p.s. Thanks for the visit to my site 🙂

  5. Great excerpt. It sounds like a really fun read.

  6. Great excerpt, this sounds really awesome 😀

    • Thanks so much! Lucille is also in the first book, “Not the Marrying Kind”…she remarks that Tom Henderson doesn’t count as a “real man”…he’s just an overgrown boy. I knew then I’d have to fix the two of them up together LOL

  7. Nice excerpt!! I love historical westerns!
